Rylee Boldizar was killed when a fire broke out at her family's home at 83 Summit Street in Norwich before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Firefighters found the girl in her bedroom on the second floor.
While her three siblings and parents survived the blaze, they lost everything.
The Norwich Fire Department began accepting donations for household items, clothing, and other essentials for the Boldizar family, but on Monday, Oct. 21, the department said it was so overwhelmed with contributions that firefighters could no longer take them.
However, they are still helping raise money for the family.
The department promoted a fundraiser for the Boldizars at the Holiday Inn Norwich at 10 Laura Blvd. from 5 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 13 years old or younger. All money raised will go to the family.
There will be a raffle, cash bar, and food donated by La Stella Pizzeria and Harp & Dragon Irish Pub and Restaurant.
La Stella also pledged to match the amount raised.
Organizers are still accepting items to be raffled off. Contact Chris Eccles at chris.eccles@hhmhotels.com.
